On April 27, 2024, 30-year-old Mica Francis Miller — wife of Myrtle Beach pastor John-Paul Miller — walked a mile into a North Carolina state park and made a 911 call that would be the last time the world heard her voice. Within days, her death was ruled a suicide — a ruling that would have ended the story for most true crime journalists.
We aren't most true crime journalists. And Mica's story is anything but typical.

At the time of her death, Mica left behind a paper trail of evidence documenting how JP allegedly abused Mica emotionally, physically, sexually, medically and spiritually throughout their relationship, which started when she was a teenager and he was her youth pastor. Mica died while she was in the process of divorcing JP Miller.
COERCED takes a deeper look at JP Miller’s dark past that includes rape allegations, alleged bestiality, an assault conviction and pardon, and a pattern of allegedly abusive behavior that can be traced back to his father — Rev. Wayne Miller. JP’s felon father once owned a Christian complex in South Carolina called Gloryland… before it mysteriously burned down.
Through exclusive interviews, 911 calls, court filings, and documents obtained through relentless FOIA requests, COERCED examines coercive control, medical and spiritual abuse, and the systems that dismissed a woman fighting for her life — and asks what accountability looks like.
